Sight Words 是儿童阅读初期的常用词，约有220个词。它是由美国学者 Dolch针对英语儿童读物做了系统分析和统计后整理出来的最常使用的词。这些词在英语教科书，图书，报章，杂志中的出现率为60- 85%。

由于这些词是初期阅读物中出现频率很高的单词，所以如果孩子能够在阅读初级阶段，在十个词中已能读出其中的七，八个词，其余的再利用phonics拼读法试着读出，再结合读本中提供的图片以及前后文，做文意之猜测与理解，那么，基本上，孩子就踏出英语阅读的第一步了。

Q：什么是Sight Words视觉词？

A：Sight顾名思义就是一眼看到就能够辨别的，Sight Words（视觉词），简单翻译：是最常见常用的，孩子在不发音的情况下应该学会识别的单词集合。

根据 CCSS (Common Core State Standards) 美国共同核心标准，Sight Words有5个等级共220个词。

Q：Sight Words到底有什么用？

A：Sight Words包含了主流英文儿童读物中约75%左右的单词量。也就是说，儿童初期阅读过程中如果能识别这些视觉词，就可以在已经认识3/4的单词的前提下，更专注于阅读理解本身，而不需要一个一个单词的先拼读再理解的低效阅读。

如果可以熟练掌握Sight Words是极有助于儿童的早期阅读和写作的，因为省去了Phonics的先拼后读的这个步骤，小朋友们不必再断断续续停下来先把每个单词的每一个字母拼出来再读出整个单词，从而大大提高阅读速度和效率。

因此，我们可以这样理解，对于儿童早期英文阅读能力培养，如果说Phonics侧重于朗读（视觉->发音->听力->语感），那Sight Words更侧重于默读（视觉->阅读速度->阅读量->语感）。总地来说，Phonics和Sight Words的最终目标都是语感，先有语感再去学语法才能事半功倍！

Q：那如何学习Sight Words呢？

A：首先，在学习Sight Words前，孩子需要能够识别字母表中所有小写字母，并能迅速说出字母名字（Letter Name），且能掌握大半部分字母发音（Letter Sound）是最好的。学习Sight Words最好的方法是大量的重复，简单说就是：多听多看，多说多拼，多读多玩。

Phonics对于英语母语国家的儿童来说，是培养独立阅读能力的基础和前提(pre-reading)。随着英文阅读从以图片为主文字为辅逐渐过渡到文字为主图片为辅，儿童阅读的广度，深度和难度也会不断增加，您也会渐渐发现孩子仅靠掌握Phonics是远远不够的。

这时Sight Words和Phonics就形成了的完美的互补，两者相结合有助于提高孩子的阅读速度和流畅性，而快速，准确，流畅的阅读又会促进孩子的阅读理解力，最终螺旋上升的搭建起孩子英文自主阅读的综合能力(包括但不仅限于阅读，理解和语感)!
